Waking Up to a Winter Wonderland

As I've previously mentioned...DC is much, much colder than Baton Rouge. Most days I bundle up to stay warm, and I'm wishing the Louisiana weather would venture up to the nation's capital.

However, when I woke up this morning, I was greeted with the sight of a blanket of snow outside. Suddenly I could tolerate the cold because the untouched morning snow is incredibly beautiful. The weather here is still an adjustment but it's days like today that make me appreciate the differences between climates.

This morning's weather report.

The Foundation for Great Things to Come (I hope)

Coming to Washington DC to pursue an internship in public relations at Fleishman-Hillard has been more than just a career move. Sure, working for a top PR agency at one of their biggest and busiest branches is going to look pretty snazzy on the resume, but for me there's more motivation.

DC isn't Baton Rouge. It's a far off destination that I've visited only a handful of times. Traveling up here is a way to quench a thirst for adventure that has burned for quite some time.

These first couple of weeks have been downright incredible. From revisiting the traditional landmarks on the National Mall to venturing into the city's eclectic neighborhoods to sample the dining and nightlife, my first taste of DC life has been fulfilling.

Good Ole Honest Abe

The one downside to living here, and anywhere below the Mason-Dixon line, is the temperature. It's freezing up here. This morning it was 19 degrees - talk about chilly.

You've got to be kidding me.
